

And these mental tests lasted four to six hours, and, which was quite complete. Now, after this I arrived there, in San Antonio, what we had, were still more extensive tests - mental tests. So World War II, this is where they had three training command centers. One was the East Coast Training Command, the San Antonio, Texas was the Central Training Command, and then there was a West Coast Training Command.

Now, at that time they had three huge centers in the United States. Then, we went to San Antonio, Texas, and that was the Aviation Cadet Center. Now, after I was at East Central State Teacher's College in Oklahoma - the training was there. No, no I had not, I had not flown as yet, but I'm coming to that, okay. Now, when you said you were getting more training, was it as a pilot or just as a member of the service? Thomas Joseph Doody: And all this was in lieu of going the Aviation Cadet Center in San Antonio, Texas.

And then after that I was transferred to East Central State Teacher's College in Ada, Oklahoma. And then that went on for another four to six weeks. And there I was being taught a little bit of navigation and a little bit of weather type of observance. There was a university in Tallahassee, Florida. Oh, after I left basic training, then I went to Tallahassee, Florida. So what - when you left, what we would refer to as basic training, to where did you go Thomas Joseph Doody: Now, can I go ahead then? Or do you have further - Alex Rafferty, III: Now, during that time this is where we learned the drill, you know, about-face, attention, this, that, and everything else, and all the close-order drill formation tactics that were - and then, this was actually set up for the beginning of inductees in Air Force training. And there was - I was there at Sheppard Field, Texas for nine weeks. And we were getting in - in that time we were getting used to Army life. We were referred to as aviation cadet trainees and we were not cadets as yet. All right, and then there I received basic Army instructions such as close-order drills, barracks life, and et cetera. I took a troop train in Chicago and went to Sheppard Field Air Force base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Now, I was gonna say, I entered the service in October of 1942.
